For up to 14 years, the program grants a tax break of up to 50% of the assessed value rise brought on by the improvement.

3. Commercial Expansion Program (CEP) 

The New York City Department of Finance also provides a number of tax credits, such as the Commercial Expansion Program (CEP), which provides a tax credit of up to $20,000 for each new job a company in the city creates. Businesses in specific parts of the State, such as Lower Manhattan, East Harlem, and the South Bronx, have access to the CEP.

4. The Excelsior Jobs Initiative

Another tax break is the Qualified Emerging Technology Company (QETC) tax credit, which offers eligible small firms that create or produce new technologies in the state a tax credit of up to $250,000 annually. Businesses with fewer than 100 employees and assets under $10 million are eligible for the credit.

6. The Tax Credit for Research and Development

Additionally, New York provides a Research and Development Tax Credit that offers a tax credit of up to 9% of eligible R&D costs. Businesses of all sizes that carry out appropriate research in the state are eligible for the credit.

GRANTS and FUNDING in NEW YORK STATE

Numerous grants and funding options are available in New York City for small enterprises, particularly those operating in the technology and innovation fields. The following are some funding incentives and grants: 

1. Funds for NYC Innovation Grants

The NYC Innovation Grant Fund, one of the most well-known grant programs, offers funding of up to $1 million to small businesses and entrepreneurs creating cutting-edge technology in a variety of industries, including health care, transportation, and energy.

2. Lower Manhattan Development Corp.

The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) Small Business Grant Program is another grant program that offers grants of up to $100,000 to small businesses that were affected by the events of September 11, 2001. The plan aims to reinvigorate the Downtown Manhattan region while helping startups rebuild from the atrocities' financial repercussions.

3. New York City Economic Development Corporation

The Industrial Developer Fund (IDF), which offers low-cost financing to developers creating or upgrading industrial facilities in the city, is one of the funding options provided by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYC EDC). The IDF provides loans with advantageous conditions and low interest rates of up to $10 million.

4. New York Venture Capital Innovation Fund

 The New York State Innovation Venture Capital Fund (NYSIVC), a noteworthy investment program, offers funding to encourage the development of novel technologies in a number of industries, including the life sciences, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing. 

5. Small Business Credit Initiative of New York State

The New York State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), which offers capital to small enterprises in the state, is another funding program. The program provides qualifying companies with fewer than 500 employees with loans, guarantees, and other forms of funding. 

6. Authority for Energy Research and Development in New York State

SBS helps small businesses obtain financial assistance and other forms of funding. The New York State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), which offers assistance with obtaining financing, and the New York State Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) program, which offers assistance to businesses owned by minorities and women, are a few other organizations and programs in New York that provide support services to small businesses.
